Biography
Simon Fraser (img. 1), the 18th Lord Lovat, 25th MacShimidh, was educated at Harrow and Edinburgh University (Bsc). Following his graduation he went into investment banking and spent 4 years in generalist equity sales for London institutions before moving to the buy side. Simon became a fund manager specializing in natural resources with an asset manager based in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2010, Simon left Genevea and joined a large Paris based asset manager to focus on their commodity fund. This involves much travelling across the world to visit the mining and oil companies that they invest in leaving precious little time to return to scotland at this stage. Simon became Clan Chief at the age of 18 on the death of his grandfather, Shimi Lovat (img. 2). The same year the family was forced into selling the clan seat, Beaufort Castle (img. 3), to cover death duties left by his father. Simon has clearly stated his dreams to buy back the castle and other Lovat lands.

Clan Activities
Simon has been very active from the beginning in clan activities, and strongly believes in harboring the goodwill surrounding the Lovat family and its rich history and connection with the people of the Aird. He strongly supports many of the clan connected organizations such as the Clan Fraser centre in Beauly, and the Beauly and Lovat shinty teams(img. 4), and he remains close to the community in Beauly despite not often being there due to working abroad.

He is also active in clan events and associations overseas. Has attended clan gatherings with the Clan Fraser of Lovat association of California, and retains strong ties there.  He has been the guest of honour at the South Carolina Highland Games and inspected the troops of the 78th Fraser Highlanders in Toronto as their Colonel in Chief (img. 5). He also keenly supports the Clan Fraser derived pipe bands such as the famous Simon Fraser University Pipe Band and the 78th Fraser Highlander Pipe Band, both of who are past winners of the World Pipe Championships.
